Fire forces 2 South End Korean restaurants to close until further notice

While the fire was controlled within 30 minutes, the damage is forcing both restaurants to shut their doors for now.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A pair of Charlotte Korean restaurants in the South End are closing temporarily after a fire broke out Saturday afternoon.

Charlotte Fire confirmed it happened around 4 p.m. along South Church Street, with smoke seen from part of Let's Meat Korean BBQ when crews arrived. Firefighters were able to control the scene in about 30 minutes, with no injuries to crew members or anyone else.

Charlotte Fire investigators determined this to be an accidental fire that began in the ventilation duct system.

The estimated property loss is about $25,000.

Let's Meat confirmed in a statement on Instagram that the fire broke out in part of their restaurant and said they would close for the time being. The owners asked patrons to visit Urban District Market in the meantime.
