South End doughnut shop closing at the end of the month after nearly 8 years in business

"We can’t begin to express how much this time has meant to all of us," the business shared on Instagram.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Pepperbox Doughnuts and Coffee is closing up shop at the end of the month after nearly eight years in Charlotte.

The popular doughnut spot at one point had two locations -- one in South End and one in NoDa. The NoDa location closed in May,

"In the past 24 months our sales have fallen drastically and, unfortunately, our only remaining location cannot sustainably stay open," the business shared in an Instagram post. "We can’t begin to express how much this time has meant to all of us. We’ve learned so much, met so many great people, and had the joy of watching people love and support our small business along the way."

The Instagram post announcing the closure has over 200 comments, with many people mourning the loss of the shop and its variety of craft doughnuts and vegan options.

The last day for the business will be Oct. 31.
