Statesville motorcyclist killed after hitting log sticking out of truck

The 19-year-old was driving his motorcycle when he attempted to pass a truck carrying logs.

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A 19-year-old is dead after a crash with a logging truck in Statesville, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

It happened on NC 115 near Ella Kay Lane on Saturday morning.

Keaton Stone McGlamery was driving his motorcycle when he attempted to pass a truck carrying logs in a no-passing zone, officials said.

McGlamery hit one of those logs extending off the back of the trailer, throwing him off his motorcycle.

He died at the scene.

During the on-scene investigation, NC 115 was partially closed in the area for two hours.

"The initial investigation indicates excessive speed and improper passing to be the contributing circumstances in the collision," highway patrol officials said.
