Student injured after school bus crash in South End, district says

School officials told WCNC Charlotte the driver who hit the bus fled the scene.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A student was injured following a school bus crash in South End Friday morning, school officials said.

Bus 1025 was on its way to Myers Parks High School when it was hit by a driver along South Tryon Street near Remount Road just before 6:30 a.m., according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

School officials told WCNC Charlotte the driver who hit the bus fled the scene. One student was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash closed the right lane of South Tryon Street near Remount Road, slowing down traffic in the area.

No word on the identity of the driver who hit the bus at this time. WCNC Charlotte has reached out to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for more information.
