Missing 22-year-old woman found dead just south of Uptown Charlotte

Ta-Haley Payton was last seen in the 700 block of Charlottetowne Avenue in late November.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A missing 22-year-old woman last seen in Charlotte at the end of November was found dead earlier this week.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department  shared on Wednesday, Dec. 11, that  22-year-old Ta-Haley Payton was found dead on Monday, Dec. 9. She was located along Baxter Street near Kenilworth Avenue, just south of Uptown.

Police noted they are still investigating her death and that her next of kin have been notified. Anyone who can offer information is asked to call (704) 432-TIPS. Anonymous tips can also be shared with CrimeStoppers online or by calling (704) 334-1600.

Payton was last seen in the 700 block of Charlottetowne Avenue on Nov. 27. Family members were concerned for her well-being.

Police did not say if she was last seen leaving with anyone or where she may have traveled to.
