Tega Cay launching new community survey to gather opinions on the deer population

The new survey, shared by the city Monday, asks people general questions about their feelings toward the deer.

TEGA CAY, S.C. — Tega Cay is launching an updated community survey on deer.

The "Deer Community Survey" comes after a lot of people in Tega Cay were disappointed by the city's progress reducing its deer population.

The new survey, shared by the city Monday, asks people general questions about their feelings toward the deer, including if deer have caused any damage or concerns.

The city said if you were one of the over 800 people who participated in the original survey sent out in late March, you should still make sure to take the new one. People have until April 29 to submit their survey response.

Data shared earlier this year showed the city had culled fewer than 40 deer since its wildlife management program began, which is less than one-quarter of the city's goal. Tega Cay has approval to kill up to 160 deer of an estimated population of 1,000.
