SHELBY, N.C. — A man in Shelby has died after being hit by a train late Tuesday morning.
Brad Fraser, chief of police for the Shelby Police Department, told WCNC Charlotte the incident happened just before noon at the railroad crossing along Dover Street, just north of East Marion Street. The victim is a man in his mid-30s, but Fraser said officers were still working to identify the family.
Fraser said foul play is not suspected, and the Dover Street crossing was closed temporarily. Major traffic impacts were not expected.
