Trooper suffers serious injuries in crash on I-77 in north Charlotte

Medic says the trooper was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No information is available on how the crash happened.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper suffered serious injuries in a crash, officials said on Wednesday.

The crash happened on I-77 N between exits 15 and 16 on Wednesday. Medic said an NC SHP vehicle was involved and that one person was transported from the scene with serious injuries. The victim was confirmed to be an NC SHP trooper by Medic.

No information has been provided on what caused the crash or how many vehicles were involved at this time. 

The NC State Highway Patrol has not yet provided information on the crash.
