YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A truck driver is dead after an accident on a busy South Carolina interstate.
The accident happened on Interstate 77 North near exit 85 in York County -- just over the state line late Saturday night.
First responders say it appears the 18-wheeler hit the guardrail, then ran off the road and down the embankment.
They had to take the truck apart to get it out of the ditch because the damage was too severe to tow the truck out.
The York County Coroner’s Office has identified the man truck driver as 56-year-old David Summers. Autopsy and toxicology results are pending
