UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A fire department in Union County is mourning the loss of one of their own.
Henry Ponds, a 32-year-old firefighter with the Lanes Creek Volunteer Fire Department, died Wednesday in a crash.
"He was a dedicated member and most importantly a friend to all that knew him," Chief Robert Sweatt said in a Facebook post. "He had a true servants heart."
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday.
