Charlotte Pride announces closing headliner

This year's festival will take place in Uptown Charlotte Aug. 17 and Aug. 18.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte may not host its annual pride festival until August, but Charlotte Pride kicked off Pride Month with a big announcement:  Multiple new artists have been added to the festival's lineup.

This year's festival, which is free to the public, will take place in Uptown Charlotte on Aug. 17 and Aug. 18.

Grammy-winning artist Paula Cole has been named the final headliner for the festival's main stage this year, and will close out the main stage on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Reyna Roberts, who was featured on Beyoncé's song "BLACKBIIRD" and recently made it through auditions of NBC's "America's Got Talent," is joining the lineup for Saturday, as is Charlotte-based band Modern Alibi. Modern Alibi recently performed in the debut Lovin' Life Music Fest in Uptown Charlotte. Divine Holeburn and Malachi will host Saturday's festivities.

The festival also confirmed Tora Himan and DJ Ghost will perform both days of the festival.

Charlotte Pride's managing director, Meredith Thompson, said the festival team is excited about the lineup.

“From the iconic Paula Cole to Reyna Roberts and local talents like Modern Alibi, this lineup embodies the spirit and diversity of our community," Thompson said. "We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone in August.”
