CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was killed in a shooting north of Uptown Charlotte on Wednesday.
The homicide happened on Oaklawn Avenue just east of I-77 just before 4 p.m., according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police said a man was found with a gunshot wound in a car that crashed in the area. The car briefly caught on fire at the scene. The man was later pronounced dead.
CMPD is seeking more information from people in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact CMPD at (704) 334-1600.
