CONCORD, N.C. — Police are increasing patrols around Barber-Scotia College (BSC) after doors and windows were smashed at the school.
A property damage report was made at BSC on Jan. 29, according to the Concord Police Department.
Police did not previously patrol the area of the school after a previous agreement expired, according to BSC President Chris V. Rey.
After the Jan. 29 incident, BCS entered a new agreement with Concord PD to allow officers to patrol the campus. Since this agreement was made, Concord police say three arrests have been made for trespassing at the school. Investigators say these arrests were not related to the Jan. 29 property damage, however.
On Saturday, Feb. 10, another property damage report was made after windows were found broken at the student union. Police say there were no signs of forced entry or any other damage on the campus.
Rey says he is very disappointed by these incidents and is frustrated the school has to spend money to fix these problems.
Barber-Scotia College is a private HBCU that has faced problems in recent years due to a minuscule student body size and a lack of accreditation.
