WADESBORO, N.C. — The Wadesboro Police Department has named a new police chief.
Brandon Chewning has been promoted to the lead position after most recently serving as interim chief, David Edwards, the town manager, said in a released statement. Chewning has been with the department for over 25 years beginning with his time as a patrol officer. He was later promoted to sergeant, lieutenant and major.
Chewning takes over for Thedis Spencer who retired on Nov. 21 after nearly 30 years with the Town of Wadesboro.
"Modern policework comes with so many challenges, but I have no doubt that he will overcome them with grave and lead with excellence for many years to come," Edwards wrote.
Wadesboro is a town of about five thousand people along U.S. 74 in Anson County, North Carolina.
