Charlotte moves up the 'rattiest' city list

Orkin says the Queen City moved up 16 spots, now holding at number 21.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Oh, rats! Four cities across the Carolinas are topping the list for rattiest cities.

Here's how researchers measure who is home to the rodents. Orkin, a pest control company, looked at the number of new rodent services in cities across the country. The ranking includes both residential and commercial pest control treatments.

Right here at home, Charlotte, Raleigh, the Greenville-Spartanburg area and Greensboro all break the top 50.

Orkin says the Queen City moved up 16 spots, now holding at number 21. The last time we covered the issue here at WCNC, Charlotte was listed as number 38 on the list. Then comes Raleigh-Durham at 23. Greenville-Spartanburg takes number 32.

But the Carolina city making the biggest jump is actually Greensboro. Orkin says it moved up 17 spots to number 50.

For context, surprisingly New York City is number three on the list. LA takes the second ranking and Chicago comes in at number one.
