Firefighters put out large fire at former Charlotte food distribution center

Multiple crews responded to a fire at an empty warehouse in south Charlotte early Wednesday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — No one was hurt during a warehouse fire in south Charlotte early Wednesday morning, officials said. 

The fire started at an empty warehouse along South Boulevard around 1 a.m. When Charlotte Fire arrived at the building, they saw heavy smoke and flames, resulting in a second alarm being struck.

Officials said that multiple crews responded to the fire and were able to get the flames under control in less than an hour. No firefighters were hurt during the incident. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Charlotte Fire Department immediately.
