WAXHAW, N.C. — A new library is opening this week in Union County.
The Southwest Regional Library in Waxhaw is set to open to the public on Friday, April 19 at 9 a.m. Officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new space on Thursday.
WCNC Charlotte had the opportunity to preview the library on Monday. The 19,000-square-foot building boasts expanded collections, new programs and spaces for the community to meet.
The library is located next to Cuthbertson Middle School at 1515 Cuthbertson Road in Waxhaw. Over 70,000 residents live within 15 minutes of the new library.
