CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Rodney Roseboro, dean of students at Winding Springs Elementary, has been arrested twice this summer and accused of improperly touching women.

The first woman to accuse him is the parent of a Winding Springs student.

Roseboro has been suspended with pay since June, when he was first arrested, said Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokeswoman Kathryn Block.

In that case, the arrest warrant for assault on a female says he is accused of putting his hand on a woman s crotch without her permission in May.

Block said the CMS Police Department filed that charge because the incident happened at the elementary school and involved a student s parent.

The investigation led to others who are now coming forward, Block said. On Tuesday, Roseboro, 37, was arrested again and charged with assault on a female and sexual battery involving a different woman.

The warrants say he grabbed that woman s buttocks and tried to grab her crotch; they give the date of offense as Feb. 1 through April 30.

That incident did not happen at school, Block said. She said the victim in that case is not a student, CMS employee or parent, but CMS police filed the charges because it resulted from their investigation.

All the charges are misdemeanors.

Until the situation is resolved, Roseboro has no access to CMS property or CMS students, Block said.

CMS payroll records show Roseboro was a social studies teacher at Martin Luther King Middle School and Midwood and Waddell high schools before being promoted to the administrative job at Winding Springs about a year ago.
