CONCORD, N.C. — The mother of a student who died in a school parking lot was arrested two weeks after the deadly incident, the Concord Police Department said on Wednesday.
Courtney Wall, 40, is facing a charge of possessing a weapon on school property after her child died by suicide in the parking lot of Valor Preparatory Academy on April 16.
The victim's name is not being released.
"Gun owners are reminded that if they live with minors, under North Carolina law they have a responsibility to store their firearms in a way that unsupervised minors cannot access them," Concord PD said in a release. "Failure to do so could result in a misdemeanor charge."
Wall was released from jail on a written promise to return to court.
