Elisa Baker's attorney, Mr. Reilly, is involved in a trial in Catawba and could not be here today she wasn't brought here from the Catawba County Jail. said Pearce.
Pearce said that Baker has already made restitution on the worthless checks and will take the other charges to trial if necessary. Pearce said he does not believe that Baker could face jail time.
For these charges with his record level we do not anticipate, even in the worst, an active jail sentence. he said.
During the investigation into Zahra's disappearance Adam Baker surrendered his passport. He may have to wait until June to get his charges in Caldwell County cleared up. His charges were reset for a date that month.
Elisa Baker is also charged with the murder of her stepdaughter Zahra. A hearing on that charge is scheduled for June 27.
