Friday last day to claim prize from winning Cash 5 ticket sold in Charlotte

The ticket was purchased for the May 13 drawing at Caton's Grocery on Statesville Road.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One lucky lottery winner could lose that luck by the end of this week.

An unclaimed $270,023 Carolina Cash 5 ticket prize is set to expire on Friday, Nov. 10 if the winner does not come forward before then.

The winning ticket was purchased for the May 13 drawing at Caton's Grocery on 5416 Statesville Road in Charlotte.

Anyone who was in Charlotte during the time of that drawing who bought a Cash 5 ticket is urged to double-check the numbers on their tickets to see if they are the winner. 

The ticket matches the numbers on all five white balls in the jackpot for a winning prize of $270,023.

Here were the winning numbers: 9-15-17-33-41

“Search everywhere you keep your tickets and double-check any you have to see if you have the winning ticket,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the lottery. “We hope that whoever purchased this ticket comes forward to claim their prize soon so we can celebrate their big win with them.”

In order to claim the prize, the winning Cash 5 ticket must be brought to the lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13. Since Friday is Veteran's Day, the lottery office will be closed, giving the winner a few extra days to claim the prize.
