Mooresville man wins largest digital lottery prize in North Carolina history, officials say

William Gazaille's $10 ticket turned into the largest instant digital prize in North Carolina lottery history.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Mooresville man tried his luck on a digital lottery game and scored the biggest digital instant prize in North Carolina history, NC Education Lottery officials said. 

William Gazaille bought a $10 ticket and won the top "Epic jackpot" in the Bison Bonanza game. His prize? A $1.33 million jackpot. 

The Bison Bonanza game features a progressive jackpot that can be won by any player at any time. It's one of four progressive jackpot games available in North Carolina. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 3.1 million, officials said. Bison Bonanza players can play anywhere from 50 cents to $30.

After paying the required federal and state taxes, Gazaille brought home $952,001. Once Gazaille won the jackpot, the prize reset to $50,000 and is now over $65,000 as of Friday morning.
