CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Shelby woman scored a $1 million prize on a scratch-off ticket, lottery officials announced Friday.
Tyeshia Hopper took a chance on a $10 50X The Cash ticket at the Eastside Kwik Stop on Lineberger Street and she'll never forget it. Hopper scratched the ticket and scored one of the game's $1 million to prizes.
Hopper arrived at North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters on Thursday to claim her prize. She opted for the lump sum of $600,000. After required state and federal taxes, she brought home $429,003.
The 50X The Cash game debuted in February with six $1 million top prizes. Three of those prizes remain to be claimed.
