CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police released new clues about a cold-blooded double shooting at a Charlotte hotel that left a man dead and a woman paralyzed.
Enhanced video showed two suspects who are still on the run. Police are convinced you could help solve the case.
Investigators are anxious to have as many eyes on the video as possible. It was taken back in 2008 inside the hotel lobby as the shooting went down.
The video is not perfect but the picture is clear enough that police believe if you know the gunman, you'll recognize him.
The whole thing took less than a minute.
"It happened really fast."
Two men were in and out of the lobby of what was then Country Hearth Inn in just 58-seconds.
"It looked particularly heinous."
Surveillance video captured two men. You see one suspect aiming his gun at two clerks. Larry Broughton, 63, was killed. His co-worker, Manjula Patel, is now paralyzed.
"Me and my dad were really close. I was a daddy's girl, and this hit me really hard."
We interviewed Broughton's daughter and Patel not long after the shooting first happened at the hotel at West Sugar Creek and I-85.
"It's not good. 24 hours, my right leg is in pain."
Now her family said she has no feeling in her legs and can barely get around.
Broughton's family has grown to include grandchildren and soon a great-grandchild he'll never know.
"We found out she was having a boy. We wish he was here to see kids growing up."
It's been 11 years and still no suspect in the case despite surveillance video showing the gunman.
"It was 2008 so the quality is not what it is today."
The FBI used new technology to help enhance the video, and police are hoping that will finally help solve the would-be robbery.
One of the suspects fired before they could even get any money after it looks like he saw the clerk reaching for a gun.
"As soon as the clerk goes for the weapon, shots are fired. It appears the suspect got nervous, saw the clerk reaching and that's why he fired."
They fled immediately, but the detective believes the suspect is from the area and knew that hotel. He also believes someone knows who did this.
"11 years is a long time, and maybe 11 years ago, there was a reason not to disclose a name, but relationships end, people got their separate ways, and now is a good time to come forward and say who this person is."
Broughton's family is desperate for answers after all this time.
"I would hope to get something before my mom passes away, so she could have some sort of justice."
