Charlotte officials to meet with Congress in Washington

Charlotte officials are in Washington for the National League of Cities conference.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte city leaders will be in Washington on Tuesday to meet with U.S. lawmakers as part of the National League of Cities conference. 

Charlotte City Council will have dinner with other city leaders Tuesday night before meeting with North Carolina's U.S. senators and two U.S. congressmembers who represent Charlotte.

The National League of Cities is an organization made up of city leaders from across the country that is focused on improving the quality of life for residents. The organization has more than 2,700 member cities nationwide, according to its website. 

President Joe Biden spoke at the NLC conference this week, emphasizing how his administration and Congress are partnering with cities to improve infrastructure through legislature, including the American Rescue Plan and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Biden also addressed several issues at top of mind ahead of the 2024 election, including affordable housing, border security and public safety.
