CHARLOTTE, N.C. — While the ballots are still being counted in the 2024 election, some precincts in North Carolina have told WCNC Charlotte there have been some issues with publishing results.
Mecklenburg County, one of the most populous counties in the Tar Heel State, is among them. Officials told WCNC Charlotte reporter Nate Morabito they had to upload data to the North Carolina State Board of Elections website, but the site wasn't publishing results for some reason. The main results concerned the early voting totals.
Early voting numbers from the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections had to be shared with local news media by printed paper. WCNC Charlotte reporter Austin Walker got the latest numbers around 10:34 p.m. with all absentee and early votes counted along with most data from day-of polling locations.
As of 10:34 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, Mecklenburg County voters have thus far largely voted for current Vice President Kamala Harris in her race for the presidency with more than 363,000 votes, just over 65% of ballots cast thus far. Former president Donald Trump saw more than 182,000 votes cast for him, roughly 33% of the vote in Mecklenburg County.
WCNC Charlotte is continuing to monitor races up and down the ballot in the Carolinas. Stay tuned for the latest on air and online as we get them.
