NC Senate race in Mecklenburg County separated by less than 30 votes, data shows

This Senate district covers southern Mecklenburg County including Mint Hill, Matthews, Providence, South Park and Ballantyne.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The race to replace Rachel Hunt in the North Carolina Senate remains too close to call as Stacie McGinn and Woodson Bradley are separated by less than 30 votes, state data shows.

Bradley, a Democrat, and McGinn, a Republican, are facing off to represent District 42 in the Senate. The district covers southern Mecklenburg County, including Matthews, Mint Hill, Providence, South Park and Ballantyne. Hunt didn't seek reelection, instead running for lieutenant governor. She defeated Republican Hal Weatherman for that office.

With 100% of precincts reporting, Bradley holds a razor-thin margin in a race that's nearly tied. Bradley has tallied 61,572 votes to McGinn's 61,545.
