CHARLOTTE, N.C. — WCNC Charlotte rounded up some helpful resources for people that can assist in finding your nearest early voting location ahead of the 2024 General Election. In-person, early voting begins in North Carolina on Thursday, Oct. 17. It doesn't start in South Carolina until Monday, Oct. 21.
North Carolina early voting
The easiest way to find your in-person, early voting site in North Carolina is to go to the North Carolina State Board of Election's website. When there, select what county you are registered to vote in and then click "Find Sites." (Note: If you aren't sure which county you're registered in, you can check your voter registration information online.)
At that point, you will see a map that shows your county and lots of red markers that denote where in-person, early voting sites are. Zoom in or out on the map to find the closest one to your preferred location, whether that's near your home or work or something else. If you click on the red marker of your closest location, it will show you the hours of operation for that particular early voting site. These hours vary per location and depending on what day of the week it is, and will stay open through Nov. 2.
South Carolina early voting
When it comes to voting early in South Carolina, the South Carolina Election Commission website has a helpful county-by-county list of locations. When you load the website, scan down to the section called "Early Voting Locations for the 2024 General Election" and select the plus button next to the county where you are registered to vote. (Note: If you aren't sure which county you're registered in, you can check your voter registration information online.)
Underneath the county name, it will list all the locations in that county where people can early vote. Choose the location nearest to you. All of the voting sites listed are open from 8:30 a.m. through 6 p.m. during the early voting period, which ends on Nov. 2.
