CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Non-profit Sustain Charlotte is advocating for smart growth in the new year. The organization released a list of eight priorities that it said will make Charlotte cleaner, greener and more equitable.
"Big challenges require a big change," Eric Zaverl, urban design specialist, said.
Zaverl appeared on WCNC Charlotte's latest episode of Flashpoint.
He said "being connected" is an overall theme for their goals in 2024. That includes, making Charlotte more focused on people and not on cars. Zaverl said it also means creating more options for transit around the city.
"It's about choices. And we lack those choices," Zaverl said in an interview with Flashpoint's Ben Thompson.
