CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A little more than a month before the North Carolina Primary, Salisbury attorney Bill Graham has a warning for his fellow Republicans: don't nominate Mark Robinson.
"I'm sick and tired of losing," Graham said on WCNC's Flashpoint.
Graham is facing Robinson for the Republican nomination in the governor's race. Graham doesn't think his opponent could win against Democrats in the general election.
"Those folks know, the statements that he's made and more," Graham said, referring to a variety of statements Robinson has made about the Holocaust, abortion, the LGBT community, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
"I'm telling you, he's going to lose," Graham said.
Graham has his own controversial stances that would be subject to criticism in a general election. As part of his platform, he said the death penalty should be used for suspects convicted of drug dealing and human trafficking.
"I don't apologize for that. I think that capital punishment ought to be available as a remedy," he said.
North Carolina hasn't imposed the death penalty since 2006, and before then was used in first-degree murder cases.
The North Carolina Primary is on March 5.
