RALEIGH, N.C. — Democratic governors from across the country, including North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, are planning a hastily arranged meeting Wednesday afternoon with President Joe Biden.
Cooper’s office confirmed Wednesday morning he’d take part virtually in the meeting. It follows the nationally televised debate this past week between Biden, a Democrat, and his presumptive Republican challenger, former President Donald Trump.
Many viewers and political insiders came away concerned with Biden’s appearance and performance during the debate, exacerbating worries about the 81-year-old Biden’s ability to run the nation for another four-year term and his likelihood of defeating Trump in a rematch of their 2020 election.
