Can you guess what Tim Walz ordered at Cook Out?

Tim Walz made his first solo campaign stop in North Carolina on Thursday and was treated to a beloved Tar Heel State dessert: a Cook Out milkshake.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz's trip to North Carolina is making headlines but not for the reasons you'd expect.

Walz, who is Minnesota's governor, was in Raleigh for a private fundraiser for Kamala Harris' campaign. While in town, Gov. Roy Cooper treated Walz to a Cook Out milkshake. They stopped at the Cook Out on South Wilmington Street if you're curious.

With dozens of flavors to choose from, the Cook Out milkshake menu can be overwhelming. Honestly, just trying to order anything at Cook Out can be stressful for newbies. Walz played it safe, ordering a mint chocolate chip milkshake. Cooper had an M&M's milkshake. Nothing wrong with playing it safe, but Walz and Cooper missed out on watermelon, Cook Out's beloved summer staple flavor.

Walz told WRAL that he's worked with Cooper for years. He also praised North Carolina's economy, saying it's a good place for middle-class families to live.

It's not the first time Cooper's taken a high-profile dignitary to Cook Out. President Joe Biden went to Cook Out during a trip to Raleigh in January, ordering a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a "black and white" milkshake. That's vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, of course. Biden said the shake was "triple thick," just the way he likes it.
