Three Republican South Carolina House members have lost their seats in primaries including the House's No. 2 officer.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Three Republican South Carolina House members have lost their seats in primaries including the House's No. 2 officer.

Tuesday's primaries knocked House Speaker Pro Tem Harry Cato of Travelers Rest from the seat he's held since 1991. The Republican lost to Tom Corbin, who will face Democrat Stephen Salter in November.

Republican Rep. Keith Kelly of Woodruff lost to Bill Chumley, who will face Democrat Tom Davies in November, and Republican Rep. Jim Stewart of Aiken lost his seat to Bill Taylor, who faces no Democratic Party opposition in November.

Two Republican House incumbents and one sitting Democrat will be in runoffs.

Meanwhile, former House Majority Leader Rick Quinn will be in a runoff with Danny Frazier in his bid to return to the Statehouse.
