HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. — An Ambert Alert for two missing girls from Haywood County was canceled after they were found safe, investigators said.

The Haywood County Sheriff's Office said the children were safely located around 11 a.m. No further details about the case were released, but detectives said early Tuesday that the girls were believed to be with Jacob Grant Aaron Stepp, a 46-year-old man.

The girls and Stepp were believed to be traveling in a 2016 Dodge Challenger with racing stripes and an NC license plate tag number KMC5951, though it is believed to be a fake tag, officials said.

Stepp is believed to be a 46-year-old white male, standing at around six feet tall and weighing 200 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes and tattoos and both of his shoulders, deputies said.
