NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Gorges campground at Gorges State Park is closed for two weeks after a bear reportedly tore apart a trailer that was in the area Thursday.
The bear was reportedly seen at Gorges State Park Wednesday, according to the North Carolina State Parks and Recreation (NCSPR) Facebook post.
They said the bear ripped apart the trailer overnight after reporting about the bear being in the area the day before.
"We posted a black bear for Wildlife Wednesday, and lo and behold last night, we had a not-so-little visitor at the campground at Gorges State Park," the post read.
Visitors and the bear are fine, and park staff are working on implementing bear aversion tactics.
Gorges Campground is closed for the next two weeks. Those with reservations between now and November 16, will receive a full refund.
The park remains open for day use. but the park advises visitors to always use caution.
