MURRELLS INLET, S.C. -- A teen suffered a shark bite while swimming in the ocean in Murrells Inlet Thursday afternoon.
Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire Rescue says there was a shark bite around 12:30, in which a 15-year-old boy was bitten on the hand and leg.
The boy suffered non-life threatening injuries, authorities say, and the bleeding was controlled with simple bandages; the teen was taken to a local hospital for additional treatment.
Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire Rescue says they've heard there was a shark in the area, but that information has not been confirmed.
