UNC-Chapel Hill grad, NASA astronaut headed to space for the first time

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A UNC-Chapel Hill grad and NASA astronaut will soon be headed to space.

Commander Zena Cardman will join a four-person crew on their SpaceX Crew-9 mission.

This will be the first time Cardman is in space after being selected as an astronaut in 2017. 

They will lift off to the International Space Station aboard the Dragon spacecraft later this year.

She has a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master's degree in marine sciences from UNC.
