MAIDEN, N.C. — Crews are working to repair a major water main break in the town of Maiden. It happened along Providence Mill Road Sunday morning. It happened around 4:30 a.m.
The town posted pictures on Facebook, saying customers needed to be prepared for a prolonged water outage.
Water was turned back on Sunday afternoon. Seven utility workers responded and worked on it all day.
Officials say it was a 12-inch pipe, which broke because of the changes in temperature.
Due to the main break, officials say all water should be boiled until further notice.
"This is a precautionary measure until lab tests can be performed," the post said.
The lab tests are expected to take 24 to 48 hours.
Town officials say Providence Mill Road, North Old Mill Road, Water Plant Road, Davis Road, Beal Road, Thunder Road, Grange Road, and Four C’s Place are all believed to be impacted.
