Missing Alexander County baby found safe in West Virginia

The Alexander County dad, mom and child were last known to be in a burgundy 1995 Dodge pickup with license plate NC FAN-3221.

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. -- A missing four-month-old from Alexander County was found safe in West Virginia Thursday, according to authorities.

According to the Alexander County Sheriff's Office, deputies discovered 48-year-old Carl Lee Dotson was missing Tuesday when they tried to serve a warrant on him at his home on Lindsey Bebber Road in Taylorsville. The warrant was for failure to appear on charges of assault inflicting serious bodily injury and assault by strangulation.

Officers also found out Dotson's girlfriend, Brandi Risden, had disappeared with the couple's four-month-old daughter. Investigators said there were previous domestic situations at the residence which led Risden filing a protection order against Dotson.

The North Carolina Center of Missing Persons was contacted in the hopes of issuing an Amber Alert, but that request was denied. The child was found safe at a family member's home.
