ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. -- A Davidson County sheriff's deputy accused of robbing a bank in Rowan County appeared in court Wednesday.
Investigators said Jeff Athey robbed the F&M Bank on Main Street in Rockwell Tuesday afternoon. He was later taken into custody at the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.
Athey was fired by the Davidson County Sheriff's Office following the accusations, NBC Charlotte's sister station WFMY reported.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said Athey had been a deputy with for at least a year.
