CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirmed a road rage incident on Independence Blvd ended with gunfire Wednesday morning.
According to police, a black Toyota was traveling beside a red Chevy Cruz when the Toyota accidentally veered over into the Chevy’s lane around 9:45 a.m.
Police said a man in the Chevy and fired shots piercing the back tire of the Toyota. According to police, a child was inside the Toyota at the time of the shooting.
Police said the suspect was able to get away. Officer later arrested Nassir Derrell for discharging a firearm into occupied property and shooting in the city limits.
No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting but police are asking anyone who has additional information to contact them.
