The Big Spring Clean works to improve Charlotte lakes, streams

At the annual event, volunteers work together to clean up streams and lakes in the Charlotte area.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is looking for volunteers for The Big Spring Clean on Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Chief Meteorologist said the weather is looking good for the weekend event, with temperatures around 70 degrees.

Tons and tons of trash are removed each year at the event. Last year, they moved seven tons of trash, according to Storm Water Services. Event coordinators will provide trash bags, gloves, snacks and water for participants. 

Volunteers work to clean up Charlotte-area streams and lakes at the annual event. Volunteers work on different sites over the county to clean up trash from runoff and litter.

The Big Spring Clean aims to keep the community beautiful and help prevent flooding.
