CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two robberies at financial institutions were being investigated Monday in the Charlotte area.
The first incident happened around 1 p.m. at Latino Community Credit Union at 5910 South Blvd. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said a man came into the business, passed a note to the teller, and ran away with property.
The suspect was described as a black male about 5' 3", wearing a beige shirt and a dark ball cap with a tan emblem in the center.
On May 21, CMPD said the suspect, 33-year-old Wade Aswan Banner, turned himself into police.
The second incident happened around 3 p.m. in Mooresville at First Citizens Bank on Medical Park Road. Police said a man came into the demanding money then left the scene.
Employees told officials the man passed a note to a bank representative demanding cash, and a weapon was not displayed. The suspect left with an undetermined amount of cash, police say.
The suspect was described as a black male wearing a red hoodie and camo green pants along with oversized sunglasses. Officials say he has a very slim build, is approximately 5 foot 8 inches or 5 foot 9 inches.
The suspect left on foot toward a Dairy Queen then got into the passenger side of a vehicle that was 'aqua green' or blue in color, possibly an older Toyota Avalon. Police say the vehicle had five-star rims, passenger side front end damage, and a temporary South Carolina dealership tag.
Anyone with information about either robbery should call 911. Investigators have not said if the crimes are connected.
