WHAT WE FOUND:

Dickerson said when it comes to text messages and mail, asking you to register will not come from the county.

"None of that comes from me," Dickerson said. "I will not send you a text or a piece of mail that says, 'Please register.' That is left to you."

Dickerson said these text messages, emails, and mail are usually from political parties or other organizations hoping to get people to register.

"A lot of people out there are encouraging everyone to register and vote," Dickerson said.

Dickerson urged potential voters to register only with dependable sources such as the board of elections for the county or state.
