CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte City Council is expected to discuss whether they'll move forward with plans for the Carolina Panthers' new practice facility in Uptown.
The field will be next to Bank of America Stadium, but there are concerns that it will take away from the neighborhood. A social media post from CLTDevelopment on Instagram says many people are worried team owner David Tepper is getting rid of a mixed-use path through the property.
THE CLAIM
The post says, "Have a lot of people freaking out in my DMs saying Tepper is getting rid of the mixed-use path through 'the @panthers' land."
THE ANSWER
No, this mixed-use path that connects through the Panthers' practice facility is not being eliminated.

WHAT WE FOUND
The mixed-use path is between Wesley Heights, Cedar, and Graham. A lot of people walk this strip to get to the games. The proposal shows that the development area for the practice stadium will expand, but it also says that the underpass will be private for pedestrians and maintenance vehicles, indicating that they plan to keep that connection.
In an email, the city told WCNC Charlotte that the mixed-use path is an extension of the greenway system and will not be removed. Instead, it's going to be rebuilt and improved.
A spokesperson said access will remain in place with the occasional closure to support business activities.
