CHARLOTTE, N.C. — People took to social media during a SWAT situation in Charlotte's SouthPark neighborhood on Monday.
THE CLAIM:
This was posted by Charlit. This social media post said there was an "active shooter in Southpark right now."
THE ANSWER:
No, there was no active shooter situation in Southpark. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, a person was experiencing a mental health crisis inside a Circle K convenience store.

First, CMPD said no one was injured. No shots were fired during the standoff situation, which took place at the Circle K store in SouthPark.
An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area, according to The Homeland Security definition,
In most cases, active shooters use firearms and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims.
After a few hours, the person did surrender, ending the standoff peacefully, according to CMPD.
