Many people took to social media to talk about the outage making several claims about what may have happened. WCNC Charlotte verifies some of these claims.
OUR SOURCES
THE CLAIM
Many people are posting that Microsoft is behind this outage.
THE ANSWER
This is false. This happened to CrowdStrike, which is a cybersecurity firm that provides antivirus software for Microsoft for its Windows devices. So it did affect Mircosoft products, but CrowdStike said in a statement that it's "working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts."
This is a cyber attack on America.
THE ANSWER
We are also putting this in the false collum. Crowdstrike said the issue is an outage not a security incident or cyberattack.
