CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Some of those watching the Paris Olympics have wondered why they don't see the medal event after the competition. Several viewers have reached out to WCNC Charlotte to ask about the medal ceremonies.
We've gotten this question a lot and have also seen it on social media, so WCNC Charlotte's Meghan Bragg with the Verify team decided to look into this.
THE QUESTION:
Can you watch the medal ceremonies at the Paris Olympics?
THE ANSWER:
Yes, there are several options for watching the medal ceremonies. However, they may not be broadcast on your TV.
OUR SOURCES:
In an email, NBC said: "There is a 'champions' medal plaza where all medalists are brought throughout the games. That is not broadcast but stations in Paris can cover."
The statement from NBC also said athletes receiving their medals may not always be on the broadcast. In past games when the Olympic Channel was operational, they were shown there.
There is a section on NBC's streaming platform, Peacock where you can see featured medal ceremonies.
NBCOlympics.com also has a section on its website that features highlights of the Olympic ceremony.
