Why were there snipers at the Panthers game? | VERIFY

Many people took snapshots of the crew on top of the stadium scoreboard.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — At Sunday's Panthers game, many people spotted something they said they had never seen before at Bank of America Stadium.

Several people taking photos of snipers on the roof of the stadium. 

WCNC Charlotte's Meghan Bragg was at the game last night and saw them as well. Many people took snapshots of the crew on top of the stadium scoreboard. 

People on Reddit even posted pictures asking why they are there and if they are always there.

These are some of the pictures we were able to get of the snipers on the roof. 

We reached out to CMPD in a statement they told us 

“Snipers and SWAT personnel are a common practice for large-scale events throughout the city.”
