CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte 49ers head coach Brad Lambert announced Thursday two players who signed with the team to play next season, including quarterback Kevin Olsen.
Olsen, the younger brother of Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen, joins UNCC from Riverside City College. Olsen originally signed with Miami out of high school as a four-star recruit. Olsen was 98-of-174 for 1080 yards and 13 touchdowns in five starts.
Olsen was considered one of the top pro-style quarterbacks out of high school and was rated as the fourth-best quarterback in America in the class of 2013. He served a red-shirt season at Miami before transferring.
Lambert also announced the signing of defensive end Jamar Winston. Winston comes to Charlotte by way of Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. Winston originally signed with the 49ers in 2013 out of Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, South Carolina.
Winston participated in the North Carolina-South Carolina Shrine Bowl and was named the Dutch Fork Most Valuable Lineman in 2012.
